Lester C Samons

SAMONS, Lester C. age 68 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the Dayton Heart Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born June 4, 1939 in Charleston, MO, son of the late James & Lola (Hayes) Samons. Lester was a US Army Veteran, was a retired employee of General Motors, a member of AmVets Post #99 and American Legion Post #668. Preceded in death by 3 sons, Lester C. Samons II, John Samons, Jeff Samons; 1 granddaughter, Teri Bowman and 2 brothers, Lester is survived by his wife, Johnnie of Vandalia; 1 step-daughter, Brenda Barnett (Ray) of Harrison Twp.; 1 step-son, Billy Keith Boman (Karla) of Vandalia; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, 3 sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 17 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Ronald Hajarian officiating. Burial to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Miami Valley Wellness Connection in Lesters memory.
