Lawrence R. "Larry" Wightman

Lawrence R. Wightman Age 77, went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness on Thursday, January 22, 2015. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 3, 1937. Preceded in death by his mom & pop, Evelyn and Vernon Wightman. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet L. Wightman; son, Jeffery R. Wightman (Linn); daughter, Kathy L. King (Allen); special granddaughter, Tamra L. Perkins (Anthony); three great grandchildren, Jenna Collins, "his little Ray of Sunshine," Anthony Jr., & Caden Perkins; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Larry served in the United States Navy on the USS Grayback as a Guided Missileman Second Class. He then went on to raise his loving family and be an amazing provider & protector. Larry worked hard at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and at Omega where he retired. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all including his special pet Ellie May. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Pastor Rick Washburn will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
