Kenneth Eugene Oppie
Age 91, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Friday; November 23, 2018, in Naples, Florida. Ken was born February 17, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to the late Eddie & Irene (Bourn) Oppie. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Pauline (Hatcher) Oppie, in 2004.
Ken spent many summers enjoying the Rustic Haven Camp Grounds at Grand Lake Saint Mary’s.
He is survived by four children, Dennis A. Oppie, Kenneth M. Oppie, Leonard P. Oppie & Carolyn L. Coomes; one brother, Clinton “Junior” Oppie; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2018, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Pastor Michael Malcosky of the Vandalia United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 12 Noon until time of service.
