Kathleen A. “Kathy” MacAlpine
Age 61 of Butler Twp., passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at her home. Kathy was born August 2, 1963 in Columbus, Ohio to William Thomas & Nancy Louise (Edwards) Kesselring. In addition to her father, Kathy was also preceded in death by one son, Tyler MacAlpine, in 2015; and by two siblings, Kyle Kesselring and Kelli Kesselring.
Kathy cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was loving, patient, and nurtured curiosity. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives. Kathy was a devout life-long Catholic, a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and she was a long-term active volunteer with the church. She retired with 39 years of teaching, most recently at Tecumseh Schools. She was also fond of golfing on the St. Christopher Golf League and worked as a “garden lady” at Homestead Golf Course.
In addition to her mother, Kathy is survived by her husband of the past 37 years, Ty N. MacAlpine; one daughter, Nicole Romito & her husband, Matt; two grandchildren, Charlotte & Theodore Romito; two siblings, Michael Kesselring and Susan Beery & her husband, Tom; her three kittens; and by her extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Friday, June 6, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Kevin Kavanagh at 11:00 am. Interment will be at a later date in Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Kathy to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Morton & Whetstone funeral home, Vandalia, is in charge of arrangements.
