John Weber

WEBER, John J., age 90, of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Landings of Huber Heights.  He was born on January 14, 1932 in Fulton County, Ohio, son of the late Elmer J. and Dorothy L. (Grime) Weber.

John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of SFC.   He was recognized for meritorious service in Korea for performing his many duties as a supply sergeant in an efficient and commendable manner.   Following his military service, John ventured into the food service industry, running a Red and White Store and Weber’s Market.

He went to work for Schwan’s Food Service where he began as a delivery driver and rapidly advanced to the position of Marketing Manager and retired in 1996.

John was a devoted man of God, a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church, Gideon’s International, the Vandalia Lions Club, and the American Legion.  He loved traveling with his wife, Marilyn, spending time with his family and being silly with his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by 3 sisters, Alice Moore, Ruby Parent and Annabelle Reagle and 1 brother, Ronald Weber.  John is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marilyn; 6 children, Patricia “Patti” Weber-Haag (Bob Pring), Phyllis Atkinson (Jeff), Timothy Weber, Steve Weber (Cindy), Lorelei Hall (Mike) and Marcus Weber (Jennifer); 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church with Revf. Michael Malcosky officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service.   Private interment with military honors will be held at Dayton National Cemetery.    If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International in John’s memory.
