Joe R. Messer

MESSER, Joe R., age 82 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Grandview Hospital. He was born March 31, 1934 in Hazard, KY and was a retired welder with General Motors/Delco Products. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary in 2013, Joe is survived by his daughter, Jorita Libecap (Kent) of Franklin; son, Roger Messer (Teresa) of Xenia; brother, Paul Rowles (Mary Alice) of KY; 3 grandchildren, Darrel Sanders (Angie) of TX, Sharon Montague (Paul) of MI and Stephanie Koenig Schenking (Michael) of Springboro; 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, April 3 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Joe’s memory.
