Joan M. Dunn

Age 86, of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She was born February 28, 1937 in Kalamazoo, Michigan (although she was a great fan of The Ohio State Football team) to the late Paul Herbert & Mary Viola (Fritz) Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert W. Dunn (& his wife, Ida); nephew, Edward P. Dunn; and by a niece, Betty J. (Dunn) Childers.

Joan is survived by two nieces, Kimberly Childers & her husband, Charles and Margaret Dunn; great niece and nephews, Christopher Childers & his wife, Jennifer, Brian Childers & his wife, Ilisa, Jonathan Childers & his wife, April, Patrick Childers and his wife, Lindsay, William Dunn, Theresa Phillips & her husband, Josh; and by her spiritual partner, Fr. Frank.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, on Monday, April 3, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her best friend, Rev. Fr. Francis Keferl at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 4, at St. Christopher Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Joan to the Vandalia-Butler Food Pantry. Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
