Joan Borchers

Age 77, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017. Joan was born February 4, 1940 in Dayton to the late Caleb & Edith (Sinclair) Hellard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Dennis Borchers, in 2000; and by two siblings, Glenna & Ruby.

Joan retired at the age of 60 from the Williams & Taylor Dental office. She enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling.

She is survived by four daughters, Kelly Leis, Tana Vaughn (Bill), Kerri Borchers (Mark) and Joei Borchers (Tom); four grandchildren, Christopher Leis (Heather), Ramanda Haislett (Micah), Adam Leis (Karen) and Dylan Vaughn; four great grandchildren, Aailey, Isaac, Dean and Elizabeth; and by three siblings, Tom Hellard (Linda), Gerry Helphinstine (Dan) and Candace Stephens (Richard).

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Pastor David Elkins (Joan’s nephew) will officiate. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Joan to the Alzheimer’s Association.
