Jean L. Cox
Age 91, of Tipp City, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Wyngate Senior Living Center in Circleville. Jean was born October 12, 1933 in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio to the late Robert M. & Fannie Marie (Savela) Peterson. In addition to her parents, Jean was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Thomas “Jack” Cox, in February of this year; and by her sisters, Freda, Florence & Eleanor; and by brothers, Elmer, Ernest & Robert.
Jean was a long-time member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church where she was very involved with the United Methodist Women. She was also a long-time member of the Vandalia Lions Club having served in various leadership roles including president and she was a recipient of the distinguished Melvin Jones Award – the highest honor bestowed by Lions Clubs International.
Jean is survived by three children, Steven Cox & his wife, Joyce, Teresa Ankrom & her husband, John and Roger Cox & his wife, Diane; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, David Peterson & his wife, Jo; and by her extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Jean to either the Vandalia Lions Club or to the Vandalia United Methodist Church.
