Jane E. McDonald

McDONALD, Jane E., age 79 of Vandalia passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. Jane was born July 27, 1939 in Chillicothe, Illinois, daughter of the late Edward & Neva (Graham) Weitz. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was lovingly known as “Mom” or “Grandma Jane” to everyone she met. Jane was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Post #9582 and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband, Calvin in 2016, Jane is survived by her children, Vicki Allen (Scott) and Jim McDonald; grandchildren, Amber Long (Dave), Cara Hope (Alex), Breanna Allen (Ben Dumler), Cade McDonald and Trey McDonald and their mother, Rannel McDonald; 3 great-grandchildren, Addy Long, Hunter James and Henry Charles, her sister, Judy Gray, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jane on Friday, August 31 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia from 5-7 pm. If so desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Jane’s memory. Jane’s amazing sense of humor, quick wit and famous “Jane-isms” make our family realize that “They Don’t Make ‘em Like Her Anymore!”
