Helen Elizabeth Duncan (nee Buckley)
Age 92, of Vandalia OH, passed away surrounded by family on September 30,2024.
Helen was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. A genuine artist and skilled craftsman, she poured her heart into creating countless quilts and needlepoint masterpieces that will be treasured for generations. Her legacy of love and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Helen’s deep love for reading fueled her imagination, while her expertise in crossword puzzles kept her mind sharp and engaged. Above all, Helen cherished her family, devoting herself to their care and happiness, always finding joy in the little moments spent together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Edna (Gross) Buckley; her brother Charles Buckley Jr, her husband Dave Duncan, her daughter Elaine Helman, her sister-in-law Phyllis Duncan, her brother-in-law Bob Duncan, and many friends and family members.
Helen is survived by her son David Lee Jr. (Joanne) Duncan, daughter Diana (Jon) Young, daughter Elizabeth (Steve) Packer, and Lee Kunz.
She also leaves behind her grandchildren—Lauren (Nicholas) Puroll, Jonathan (Courtney) Young, David (Caren) Duncan, Chelsea (Louis) Linnemann, Alyson (Mike) Martorano, Anna (Matt) Ferrara, Rodney Helman, and Nicholas Helman—and her great-grandchildren—Alex, Olivia, Reid, Maddie, Phoebe, and Jack—all of whom she adored.
Visitation for Helen will be on Sunday, October 6 from 9:30AM – 11AM at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home in Vandalia OH. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11AM. Burial to follow at Polk Grove Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Association in Helen’s memory.
