Georgia Mae Smith (Fritz)
Age 90, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026. Georgia was born December 22, 1935 in Duffield, Virginia to the late Will & Gracie (Lane) Fritz. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of over 25 years, James (Jack) Smith, in 1987; their son, John Smith; sisters, Pansie & Hazel Fritz, Mabel Sturgill and Pauline Bumbalough; and by brothers, William, Robert, Nelson, and Leonard Fritz.
Georgia was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching her soap operas (The Young & the Restless was her favorite) and WHIO News Center 7. Two of her favorite pass times was talking with her family on the telephone and playing the lottery.
Georgia is survived by sons, Jeffrey (Cynthia) and Stephen; daughters, Phyllis and Michele; grandchildren: Elizabeth, Dominique, Sara, Brandi, Taylor, Madeleine, and Karl Austin; great grandchildren: Riley, Alaina, Cameron, Oakland, Norah & Grayland; her loving canine companion (her granddog) Jack; brothers, Fred and Billy Fritz; sisters, Louise Bledsoe, Betty (Darrell) Lane and Mary Ford; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, at Morton & Whetstone funeral home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment will be at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Georgia to the Lymphoma Society.
