George William Thorne

George William Thorne passed away on January 30, 2022 in Lake City, Florida.  George was born February 16, 1932 in Albany, Ohio to the late Carroll and Florence Thorne.

George served in the U.S. Military as a dental technician.  After he got out of the service, he became a barber for 40 years.  After retiring, he began collecting and repairing old watches.  He had quite an extensive collection.  He was known around Vandalia and New Carlisle as the "watchman."  The local newspaper even did an article on the "watchman."  He was honest and hard working and was well liked and respected by everyone he knew.
George is survived by his son Chris Thorne, daughter Karen Jones, grandson Ezra Jones, granddaughter Mariah Jones, great granddaughter Honesty Huston and his sisters Carolyn Mohr, Julia Detrick and Veronica Barber.
