Freddy Bentley

Born on July 12, 1941 in Letcher County, Kentucky, passed away on April 28, 2025 at his home in Vandalia, Ohio. Fred was born to Otho and Nancy Alice Bentley. He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Todd; his father, Otho Bentley; his mother, Nancy Alice Hall Bentley; and nineteen brothers and sisters. He has one surviving sibling, Jerry Bentley.

Fred married his wife of 60 years, Gracie Burrows Bentley. They were blessed with two sons, Fred Jr. (Paula) and Anthony Todd; five grandchildren, Anthony “Toddy” (Kelle), Meghan (Tyler), Morgan (Cem), Elijah and Elizabeth; and by three great grandchildren, Kenzie, Foster and Kollyn.

Fred worked at Chrysler for 32 years. He was a member of the Masons for 60 years, a Shriner, and reached 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite. Fred loved running for several years. He ran 5-10 miles a day and ran many distance races. Fred loved his family and his church where he served as a deacon at Meadowdale Baptist in Dayton, Ohio and later at First Baptist Church in Vandalia, Ohio. Most of all, he loved the Lord.

The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. At 1:00 pm the Vandalia Masonic Lodge will conduct masonic lodge services followed by funeral services to be led by John Seagraves. Entombment will be in Whispering Pines Mausoleum at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Freddy to Gentiva Hospice, 7887 Washington Village Drive, Ste # 350, Dayton, Ohio 45459.
