Frank Pohl, Jr.

POHL, Frank P. Jr., age 83, of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.  Frank was born March 22, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Frank & Teresa (Reager) Pohl.  He grew up in Old North Dayton, was a 1958 graduate of Chaminade High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University.  Frank was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired employee of General Motors - Inland Division with 25 years of service.   He spent time working with Avis Rental Car, Jamestown Industries and enjoyed driving car shuttle for area dealerships.  Frank was also a longtime, active member of St. Christopher Catholic Church where he enjoyed coaching youth sports and supporting all school activities.

Preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Art & Celia Geise; 2 brothers, Richard & Donald Pohl; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marge Pohl, Mel Dues, Al Hausfeld, Jim Geise, Dottie Bruggeman & Gene East; niece, Patrice Pohl Garrison and nephews, Greg Hausfeld and Kevin Bruggeman, Frank is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Pohl; son, Brian Pohl; daughter, Kim Thompson; former son-in-law, Kevin Thompson; grandchildren, Mitchell Thompson, Natalie Knueven (Andrew); brother, Jerry Pohl; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Pat Pohl, Ruth Hausfeld, Betty East, Lucy Geise, Bill & Joann Geise, & Bob Bruggeman, along with numerous nieces, nephews, his close extended family, the Hageman Family and many close friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 1, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd., Vandalia, with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating.   The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Thursday evening (11/30) from 4-7 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to St. Christopher School or Ohio's Hospice of Dayton in Frank's memory.
