Ernest E. "Ernie" Garner

Age 75, of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Miami Valley Hospital – Main Campus. He was born February 18, 1948 in Bel Alton, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 23 years, Grace (Guthrie) Garner, in 1996; and by his mother, Josephine Mary Hooes.

Ernie was an avid NASCAR fan and loved Dale Earnhardt who died on Ernie’s birthday in 2001. He was also a very talented woodworker.

Ernie is survived by four children, James “Jimmy” Guthrie, Linda Pitcock, Loretta Walters & Ellen “Annette” Tock; six grandchildren, Brittany Walters, Leo Robert Reaver III, Joey Walters (Kristen), Gabrielle “Gabby” Baer (Jeremy), Austin Pitcock and Haille Pitcock; six great grandchildren, Mason Walters, Zaniyah Reaver, Kaci Walters, (Baby) Leo Reaver IV, Coen Baer and (Baby) Jordan Harris; four sisters, Judy Moore, Debra Arbic, Tara Voss and Amy King (Gary Harris); and by his extended family & many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 26, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. Interment will be at Willow View Cemetery.
