Dorsey Jake Lakes
Age 90, of Union, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughters. Dorsey was born May 10, 1935, in McKee, Kentucky, son of the late Grant and Dora (Gabbard) Lakes. He retired from General Motors with over 30 years of service, was an avid University of Kentucky fan and loved America. Dorsey had a passion for music and served several church communities over a span of 40 years as a music director. He spent nearly 23 years as the music director at the North Dayton Baptist Church before retiring from music ministry.
Preceded in death by his parents, Dorsey was also preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Jenny; his infant brother, Raymond Earl and 4 sisters, Ina Pearl, Marjorie, Bertha “Bert” and Leola.
Dorsey is survived by his wife, Pauline; 4 daughters, Nina & husband, Dennis Humphreys, Lisa & husband, Larry Hammons, Renee & husband, Kent Summers and Rhonda & husband, Denny Faulkner; 8 grandchildren, DJ (Christie), Jared (Jenai), Elizabeth (Corey), Grant (Sierra), Jill (Dennis), Jake, Sammy (Emily) & Amy (Bryan); 14 great-grandchildren, Cora, Ian, Elis, Peyton, Lily, Eli, Silas, Lucas, Kinsley, Kenton, Mya, Khloe, Meadow and Sonny. Dorsey was also blessed with a special extended family through his marriage to Pauline, along with many wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 29 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Dennis Humphreys officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery, Butler Twp. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11 am until time of service.
