Doris I. Richards

RICHARDS, Doris I. age 86 of Vandalia, passed away Thursday July 17, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. Doris was born September 18, 1927 in Dayton, daughter of the late Clyde & Cleola (Bretz) Ward. She was a lifelong resident of the Dayton area and retired as a bartender at Christys Alpine Inn after many years. Doris was also an avid reader and enjoyed her walks. She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell, 2 sisters Elizabeth Swartz and Virginia Van Dyke and one brother Conway Ward. She is survived by her children Stephen E. Richards, Mark T. (Tonya) Richards, Debra K. (Alfred "Dusty") Firestone; 5 grandchildren Jennifer (fiance' David Shearer), Robbie (Heather), Joshua, Sara,and MaKenzee; 3 great-grandchildren Blake, Kelsey, and Kaydee; numerous other relatives and her longtime friends from Christys. Funeral services will be held Monday July 21 at 1:00pm at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00am to 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Doris' memory.
