Derrick J. Maier
Age 57, of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Grandview Hospital. Derrick was born May 22, 1964 in Dayton to the late Darell & Ruth (Oller) Maier.
He was a proud member of the NRA, an avid fisherman & hunter and loved to cook. He graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School, class of 1982.
Derrick is survived by his loving wife, Tianne (Hale) Maier; four children, Jarrett Maier & his wife, Yiselle, Laura Miller & her husband, Jason, Ian Lowe & his wife, April and Aaron Lowe & his wife, Ashley; four siblings, David Maier & his wife, Donna, Richard Maier, Danny Maier and Marcia Wenrick; five grandchildren, Kyleigh, Ethan, Colton, James & Tristan with another grandchild, Aria, who is due to be born in March of ’22; his special friend, Shelley Maier; and by his extended family & many good friends.
The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that those wishing to honor Derrick’s memory make a donation to either St. Jude Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital.
