Denver Olin (Allen) Bryson,
Age 87, of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his residence. He was born October 12, 1936 in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late Charles Hule. Bryson and Myrtle (Newman) Runyon. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Carl Bryson, and by a grand-daughter-in-law, Octavia Kerr Bryson.
Denver proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1955-1964. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Forrestal CVA 59, During the first cruise and served during the Korean War. After his time in the Marine Corps he was employed by Dayton Tire and Rubber (Dayton, Ohio), then by Martin Marietta/Union Carbide (Oakridge Tennessee). He retired from Martin Marietta and returned to Ohio, where he worked on rental properties with his wife. He enjoyed bowling, piddling around in the garage, whittling wood, collecting tools, making home improvements and being with family.
Denver is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirleen (Reeves), of 69 years. He is survived by five daughters, Dianne Herold, Penny Duncan (Ron), Valerie Smith (Gary Morrison), Tammie Inman (Steve), Samentha Lucas (Peter); thirteen grandchildren; a slew of great grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; a brother, Gene Bryson and by his extended family & many good friends.
The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 am on Tuesday, June 25 with a brief time of memory sharing at 10:00 am at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Committal services will be held at 11:00 am at Dayton National Cemetery at the VA Medical Center.
