David Ford Tregoning, age 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Hospice of Dayton, OH. Although we mourn our loss, we celebrate that he is now with his Heavenly Father. He was born October 31, 1952 in Shaker Heights, to William Jr “Bill” and Kate (Dennison) Tregoning. He was a 1970 graduate of Shaker Heights High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Malone University.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one grandchild, Brennan. He is survived by his brother, William III of Parma Heights OH; children, Brian (Marissa) of Englewood OH, Erin (Eric) McClanahan of Athens GA, and Patrick (Kristen) of Snow Hill NC.; and grandchildren Caroline, William, and Avery.
Dave was a dedicated employee of the Sherwin-Williams Company for over forty years and served in roles that included stock boy, store sales, telephone customer product support, and regional sales representative. Most of his time at SW was as the store manager in Kenton and Cuyahoga Falls, where he won to multiple national recognitions for sales and served as a pilot site for the automated color tinting machines that are now used in all stores nationwide.
As an avid singer, Dave served in the choirs at the Kenton First United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church-Akron/The Vine Fellowship Church and was a regular soloist for services. He was always willing to share with his family and friends the beautiful, and often challenging, music he was learning and preparing to share in worship. Additionally, he was a member of the Society Singers (Kenton). On the stage, Dave was a longtime participant both as an actor and on the directing team with the Streetsboro Community Theater. He was most proud of his role as Chief while performing One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Dave truly found joy in music, whether singing, performing, or simply listening.
Having been a life-long Browns fan, Dave, and his whole family wish them well in the years to come. May we celebrate many wins, including a Super Bowl, in his honor!
