Dale Robert Ridenour

Age 79, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Dale was born May 15, 1946 into a small farm family to John Vincent and Olive May Ridenour. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Pam (Senseman) Ridenour, in 2024; and by one brother Glenn Lee Ridenour. Dale grew up in Butler Township and graduated from Vandalia-Butler Schools in 1964. He served in the United States Marine Corps in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged in 1968. It was Dale’s firm opinion that Pam was the “best person in the world” and made his life worthwhile. With Pam’s support, he used the GI Bill to go back to school and obtain an associate degree from Sinclair Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Wright State University, and a master’s degree from the University of Dayton. His working career was in the accounting and financial fields of business, both in the private and public sectors. He retired at the end of 2007 and he and Pam lived modestly and comfortably in their home which they purchased in December of 1978. Dale would tell you that he had both success and failure in his life, but none that he deemed worthy of remembrance in this obituary. He would judge himself to have been a “good man.” He believed that he was lucky to live at the best time in this country since it appeared to him that now the country may be to far down the “slippery slope” into the bureaucratic state and will no longer be the land of the “Free.” He hoped that he was wrong. Dale’s body will be cremated with his remains privately buried at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Morton & Whetstone funeral home (Vandalia) is in charge of arrangements.
