KLEPINGER, Cleon D., age 96, born May 14, 1926, formerly of West Milton, OH, currently of Englewood, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Cleon, a man of integrity, grew up in the Quaker faith, was saved in 1993 at a Billy Graham crusade and since has been an active member of First Light Church, Vandalia.
He was a WWII veteran, having served for two years in the Merchant Marines, traveling the Atlantic Ocean 14 trips, carrying war supplies, as well as POWs. He was a farmer as a young man, employed at Borden’s Dairy, and was self-employed at Standard Oil Company as a Sohio Oil Distributor.
Cleon was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Juanita (Ellerman) Klepinger; first wife, Jean (Conway) Klepinger, son, Dr. Thomas Klepinger, daughter, Sue Ellen Robe, and brothers, Nolan and Kent Klepinger.
He is survived by his wife, Reba (Huff) Klepinger; step-daughter, Lesli (Joe) Middlestetter; grandchildren, Sheri (Matt) Schimpf, Traci (David) Smith, Cindi (Jon) Geiger, Andrew, Matthew (Toni), Shannon Sullivan, Jacob, Nathan and Luke Middlestetter; 10 great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm, Monday, November 21, 2022 at First Light Church with Mr. John Seagraves officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville. The family will receive friends at First Light Church on Monday from 11:00 am until time of service.
