Christopher P. Sumner

Age 42, of Vandalia, passed away as the result of a motorcycle accident in North Carolina. Chris “Pubert” was born December 22, 1983 in Dayton. Chris was preceded in death by his father, John Fults.

Chris was a motorcycle enthusiast and wrestling coach for Vandalia-Butler High School. He was an assistant coach for the MPower community. He will be lovingly remembered as a jokester and grill master. Chris worked for Perfection Group for the past 15 years in many capacities, most recently in project sales.

Chris was a loving husband to his devoted wife of the past 13 years, Lori (Heis) Sumner. He is also survived by his mother, Robin Stevens (Dave); four children, Kailey, Mckena, Brooklynn & Christian; two sisters, Kelly Sumner and Jaime Romaker (Josh) & their children Isabella, Sofia & Colt; sister-in-law, Teresa Vanover (Tyler) & their children, Cooper, Colton & Cash; his in-laws, John & Sheree Heis; and by his fur babies, Knox, Tinnie & Annie.

The family will be receiving friends from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, at the New Vision Church, 950 Helke Road, Vandalia. A celebration of life will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday with Pastor Darin Bolden officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery in Butler Twp.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Chris to the Vandalia-Butler Wrestling Program in care of Vandalia-Butler High School.

Chris was a very loving husband, father, son, brother & uncle. He will be remembered by his family & friends for his big, bright, beautiful smile, infectious laugh and his willingness to help anyone in need. He inspired everyone who knew him and left a forever imprint in our community. To know Chris was to love him.
