Charles E. Shepherd

Charles E. “Chuck” Shepherd, 93, of Union, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025. He was born to Zach & Nancy Shepherd on July 11, 1932 in Greenwich, Ohio. Chuck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and served as a chaplain for many truck stop ministries.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Shepherd in 2014; daughter, Mona Prunest; grandchildren, Samantha, Robert & Charles; sister, Barbara; brothers, Henry & Raymond.

Survived by his daughters, Kathy Hager, Cynthia Fortney (Craine) & Anita Williams (Terry); brother, Ronald Shepherd; grandchildren, Rochelle Weaver, Krystle Toskins, Amanda Skidmore, Monica Seeley, Anthony Shepherd & Hanna Turner; 10 great grandchildren & 6 great great grandchildren; special friend, Dave Madewell; his little dog, Buddy; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon on Thursday, Aug. 28 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 South Dixie Dr., Vandalia, with the funeral service at 1 p.m. Pastor Dan Kincer, officiating. The burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Union, 219 Shaw Rd., Union, OH 45322, in Chuck’s memory.
