Charles R. Arndts, fondly known as Chuck, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, in Troy, Ohio. Born on November 1, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, Chuck devoted his life to his family and the passions that brought him joy and fulfillment. His unwavering commitment to those he loved was a cornerstone of his character; true to his nature, family was always first.
Chuck was a revered member of the Polk Grove United Church of Christ, where he faithfully volunteered for many years. His dedication extended beyond the pews, as he played a central role organizing car shows, sharing his enthusiasm and expertise with the community. His love of classic cars was more than a hobby—it was a lifelong passion that led him to serve as Past President of the International Edsel Club. He was also a member of a Ford Mustang Club, reflecting his deep appreciation for automotive history. Outside of cars, Chuck found pleasure in golfing and traveling with family and friends, embracing every opportunity to create treasured memories.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 67 years, Nina Arndts, who stood steadfast by his side through all of life’s chapters. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their shared values and love. Chuck’s family extended to his daughters, Tahna Willoughby and her husband Garry, and Gina Van Winkle, both of whom carry forward his legacy of kindness and dedication.
The gratitude and warmth Chuck inspired also live on through his cherished grandchildren: Lindsey Williams and her husband Scott, Mandi Loayza and her husband Dario, Alicia Lane and her husband Eric, and Michael Hoover and his wife Nicole. These bonds continued into the next generation, as he took joy in his great-grandchildren—Preston Shoup, Chandler Shoup, Matthew August, Lily Loayza, Ellie Williams, Kaitlyn Hoover, Christian Albo, and Jason Hoover—who will remember their great-grandfather’s gentle spirit and hearty laughter.
Though the family mourns the loss of his beloved parents, Charles E. and Frances F. Arndts, as well as the sorrowful passing of his granddaughter Ashley Van Winkle and great-granddaughter Aria Shoup, Chuck’s presence remains a guiding light within his family’s hearts.
His nephews, Erik Hund and his wife Susan, along with Thor Hund and his wife Nicole, also hold dear the memories of their uncle’s generous heart and spirited nature.
Chuck Arndts’ life was marked by love, commitment, and the rich tapestry of relationships he nurtured. His legacy endures in the lives he touched and the community he served with quiet dignity and steadfast devotion. He will be deeply missed but forever honored.
