FOWLER, Carolyn Barbara (nee Kercher) Age 92, of New Carlisle, OH (formerly of Vandalia), passed away April 6, 2015, after a brave battle with dementia. She was a 1943 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School where she was a cheerleader. Later, she worked at Virginia Cafeteria & The Rike Kumler Co. as an elevator operator. In 1952, she married James A. Fowler Jr. (Art) and they were blessed with a daughter Cynthia Diane. Carolyn spent the next 50 years as a homemaker enjoying her grandchildren, shopping, going to the hairdresser, visiting with friends & family, and loving her Chihuahua, Chi-Chi. She is most remembered for being honest, generous, thoughtful, and having a keen sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Bertha Kercher; husband, James A. Fowler Jr.; brothers, Leroy & George Kercher; sisters, Lillian Garwood, Edna Strohm, & Mildred Fogarty; step-daughter, Joyce Kingery. She is survived by daughter, Cynthia Fowler Stephens; granddaughter, Christina Ginter Lovelock (Douglas); grandson, Benjamin Ginter (Debra); great-grandchildren, Adam Kuhn, Mandie Kuhn Kaufman (Vince), Noah Lovelock, Cassie Lovelock; great-great granddaughter, Lexie Kaufman; step-children, James A. Fowler III (Joan), Joanne Fowler Prater (Jack); numerous step-grandchildren, nephew Michael Hefelfinger (Phyllis); many friends, and family. She also had a long time friendship of 78 years with her dear friend Gerry Worley. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday (4/15) at Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Pastor Scott Fetter will officiate. Interment will follow at Willow View Cemetery, Dayton. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Cerebral Palsy or Hospice of the Miami Valley.
