Age 84, of Troy, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, January 17, 2022. He was born January 3, 1938, in Dayton to the late Carl & Velma (Kastle) Oiler. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Oiler; a stepson, Johnny Spicer; and by two siblings, Jo Ann & Carl, Jr.

Buddy worked at McCalls – Dayton Press for 25 years and then for Chrysler for 17 years. He attended the Christian Life Center; enjoyed camping; working puzzles; and he was an avid motorcyclist and a former member of the Dayton Ramblers Motorcycle Club. For many years Buddy played the role of Santa Claus at the Elder-Beerman N. W. store and for private parties.

He is survived by his loving wife of the past 37 years, Darlene (Spicer) Oiler; two children, John Oiler & his wife, Christine and Sara Debreceni & her husband, Mark; two stepchildren, Greg Spicer & his wife, Vanessa and Lynn Owens & her husband, Carlos; one sister, Joan Duffy & her husband, Dan; and by numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, at the Christian Life Center. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Libby Martin officiating.
