Bernetta E. Chuvalas

Age 96, of Kettering, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026. She was born March 17, 1930 in Dayton to the late Charles W. & Anna I. (Binkley) Rosell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John (Hank) Chuvalas, in 1980; her daughter, Janet Houston; six brothers & three sisters; and by her companion of many years, Ed Winemiller.

Bernetta enjoyed knitting and cross-stitching. She was also an avid fan of Ohio State Football and the Cincinnati Reds.

Bernetta is survived by five sons, John, Tom, Ron (Barbara), Jerry (Lisa) & Curt (Elyse); numerous grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren & one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Bessie Kirk and Edith Kelly; and by her extended family, including Cheryl, Roger, Karen & Amy and their families & many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, at Morton & Whetstone funeral home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday (6/24) at the funeral home with interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Bernetta to Affinity Care Hospice.
