Beau D. Townsend

TOWNSEND, Beau D., age 84 of Tipp City, joyfully joined his son Christopher in Heaven on Friday, May 22, 2026. Beau was born August 8, 1941 in Lima, OH, son of the late Francis “Bud” & and Jan Townsend. He was destined to be a successful businessman at an early age, as he was selling greeting cards and vacuum cleaners by the age of 9. Beau entered the U.S. Army at the age of 15, after being told to “take a walk around the block and come back with a new birthday.” He proudly served his country and was well taken care of by his troops overseas.

Beau worked tirelessly to achieve his goals and served the Vandalia-Butler Community for many years. He was the Owner and Operator of Beau Townsend Ford/Lincoln for 50 years. He supported many charitable missions including anything related to animals, feeding the hungry and helping the local school district. Beau started a now long-time tradition of providing a car as the grand prize for the Butler After Prom celebration.

Preceded in death by his parents, son, Christopher, and 4 siblings, Beau is survived by his loving wife, Julia; daughter, Amy Townsend; step-daughter, Melissa Daugherty; 5 sisters; 4 grandsons; and 3-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, May 28, at Living Word Church, 926 E. National Rd., Vandalia with Pastor John Maples officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery, Fountain City, IN. The family will receive friends at Living Word Church on Wednesday, May 27, from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Beau’s memory to one of the following organizations: Day City Hospice, the Vandalia-Butler Food Pantry or the Our Farm Sanctuary in Tipp City, OH.
