Barbara Ellen Gibson 83, of Vandalia passed away peacefully on Friday September 20th surrounded by her family.
She was born in 1941 in Wayne County West Virginia to the late Wendell and Irene Hatten. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Charles Hatten, two sisters, Irma Louise Hatten and Ruth Ann Finley, and her loving husband of 51 years Robert “Bob” Gibson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill (Jeff) Amos, son, Jason (Sheena) Gibson and grandsons, Chad and Clay Amos, Ryan and Seth Gibson, as well as a brother James (June) Hatten and a sister Brenda (Gary) Staley, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a member of First Light church in Vandalia for forty years. She enjoyed fellowship with her many friends and neighbors, and rooting hard for the Aviators, Buckeyes, Reds, Bengals, Boilermakers, and Thundering Herd.
She was a dedicated Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, and always made sure that her elderly neighbors had a plate of food to eat each evening before she sat to eat her own.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, Ohio. Interment will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until time of service.
