Albert J. Melaszus

MELASZUS, Albert J., age 90, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013. He was born November 21, 1922 in Dayton, OH, son of the late Joseph & Nellie (Stulgaitis) Melaszus. Al was a graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School and a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a Disabled American Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #619, and the Masonic Lodge #742 F&AM of Vandalia. Al was a loving husband, father and grandfather who lived a good life and is now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. Preceded in death by his wife, Erzella Connie Melaszus; 1 son, Kenneth Melaszus; son-in-law, Rick Meeks, and 1 sister, Cecilia Yankus, Al is survived by his son, John & wife, Susan Melaszus of Tipp City, his daughter, Betty Meeks of West Milton; 3 grandsons, Nick Melaszus, and Travis & Wyatt Meeks, along with a host of wonderful friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 31 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with burial to follow at Davids Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Red Cross in Als memory.
