Donald Arthur “Don” Nutt, 91, of Vandalia, passed away in Venice Florida. Don is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Elizabeth (Winner) Nutt; his son David A Nutt; his father Arthur Nutt; his mother Hedwig (Kramer) Nutt; and his stepmother Margaret (Sheely) Nutt.

Donald is survived by his son, Steven D. Nutt (Roger) in Dayton; daughter, Barbara A. Nelson (Brian) in Venice FL; grandchildren, Eric Nelson (Maggie), in Indianapolis; Matthew Nelson, in St Peterburg FL; Rachael Nelson, in St. Petersburg FL; Alyssa (Nutt) Tran (Nam-Kha) in Westerville OH, Gabryelle Nutt, in Dayton; & Tyler Nutt, in Miamisburg; great granddaughters Sylvie Nelson and Willa Nelson, in Indianapolis; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; he was a quiet role model and mentor to many.

Donald was born on September 2, 1932 in Sidney Ohio. After moving from Dayton to Sidney at the age of 7, he attended Holy Angels grade/high school where he graduated in 1950. During his time in the U.S. Army, he was stationed at both Ft Bliss in El Paso Texas and White Sands New Mexico. Afterwards, he graduated from the University of Dayton with a BS and MBA degree.

Don then went on to become the Vice President of Sales at Aerovent Fan Manufacturing in Piqua for 23 years. He was also a successful industrial sales rep at Honeywell, where he was honored as a member of the very select President's Club.

Donald was a pillar in the community, actively involved in many organizations such as St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia Sister Cities, Vandalia Oktoberfest, Buckeye Boys State, Centerville Historic Society, and a carousing group called the Pink Flamingo Club.

Above all, Don was a devoted family man, and an incredible source of strength and support. He dedicated himself to the care of his beloved wife Betty, as a primary caregiver throughout her 15-year battle with Alzheimers, as well as to his son David, who suffered through Leukemia for 3 years. He relished spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and as well as his favorite pooch “Libby."

He delighted in social interaction, especially enjoyed a beer and conversation with family and friends, playing golf and bridge, genealogy, and all things Dayton, especially University of Dayton basketball. His kind heart and easy-going nature endeared him to all who encountered him, earning him the moniker at his retirement center, "the sweet man."
