Tamme Hafer

HAFER, Tamaree J., “Tamme”, age 60 of Vandalia passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 at her home.  She was born November 18, 1958 in Kenton, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles T. & Joy (Waddle) Rubins.   Tamme is survived by her husband, Russ Hafer; her children, Drake, Breanne and husband, (Charles), Devan, and Trey; grandchildren, Greyson, Rhys and Beau; sister, Paige (Rod); brother, Garth (Peggi), and a host of other relatives and friends.

Tamme was a long-time resident of Vandalia, Ohio where she attended Vandalia-Butler High School.  It was in high school, over an English book report project, where she met and began to fall in love with her future husband, Russell Hafer. She graduated from Vandalia-Butler in 1976 and proceeded to attend Kent State University to acquire a BS in Nursing. She married Russ and began a family, having her first son, Drake, in 1983. She then went on to gain a Masters of Science in Nursing from Wright State University, specializing in Health Administration. Over the years, her family grew as she had two daughters, Breanne and Devan, and lastly, another son, Trey. She later went on to gain a second Masters degree in Nursing from Wright State University at age 50. She held many different titles throughout her career: ER nurse, Practice Manager, Director of Nursing, CEO of a general and surgical hospital, and ended her career as a Nurse Practitioner. 

Those that knew Tamme knew an intelligent, caring, patient, and compassionate woman. Her middle name “Joy” serves as a reminder of the happiness and light she brought to the world.  A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, August 2nd, 2019 from 6-9 pm at the AmVets Post #99, 1123 S.
