WALTERS, Philip L., age 85 of Vandalia, passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 at his residence. He was born April 24, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Philip D. & Lottie Mae (Robinson) Walters. Philip was an active member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and enjoyed bible study and fellowship with his church family. He was an active member of the Vandalia-Butler Historical Society and a proud, active member with the Dayton Wingmasters.
Preceded in death by his wife, Velma, Philip is survived by his three children, Philip S. & wife, Laura Walters of Vandalia, Todd M. & wife, Lani Walters of Vandalia, and Melissa & husband, Tom Lane of Ludlow Falls; grandchildren, Philip N. & wife, JJ Walters, Mary E. & husband, Matt Dec, Damian L. & wife, Crystal Walters, Mandi N. Lane, Whitney B. & husband, Cole Jones, Derek Smith, Sarah Smith, Myra Tapia, May Dale and Ruth Dale; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Noah, Connor, Quinn, James, Colton, Raelynn, Carter, Ely and Audrianna; 3 sisters, Phylis Staley of Vandalia, Sue & husband, Edd McGatha of Tipp City, and Kitty & husband, George Uetz of New Richmond, Ohio, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Philip's life will be held Saturday, December 7 at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Drive, Vandalia, Ohio 45377. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, followed by a service at 12:00 officiated by Rev. Michael Malcosky. Private interment will be held at Polk Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Philip’s honor to the Dayton Wingmasters, the Vandalia United Methodist Church or to the Vandalia-Butler Historical Society.
