Catherine “Cathy” Shi Price

February 24, 1951 – September 24, 2019

Catherine “Cathy” Price, 68, of Vandalia died Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

 A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 28 at 11:00 A.M. at Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 South Dixie Drive, Vandalia. Pastor Michael Malcosky will lead the service. Guests are encouraged to wear colorful attire in Cathy’s honor. Luncheon to follow at the church.

Cathy, the daughter of William Melvin and Miriam Elmore Shi, and was born in Borger, Texas.  She graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas, received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from University of Kansas in Lawrence, and her Master’s in Education from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She was employed as a Music Therapist in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she met her late husband, Patrick Michael Price. Mr. Price served as an officer in the US Air Force until he retired and they settled in Vandalia.  Cathy was a private flute and piano teacher in Vandalia for many years. She touched the lives of many students and will be surely missed.  She worked as a substitute teacher for the Vandalia City Schools and was the organist for Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren. She was a long-time volunteer with several arts organizations in the Dayton area and co-founded the Vandalia Youth Theatre Company in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael and her daughter, Brittany Reneé Price.  She is survived by her daughter, Angelé Price-Maddah (Mohammad), mother, Miriam Shi and sister, Miriam Pauli.
