Marianna (Wittich) Dean

Marianna Wittich Dean died at the age of 87 on Thursday, April 4, 2024.  Marianna was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Elmo Dean, of 61 years.  Together they raised four children:  Mike (Sue, deceased), David (Sheila), Beth (Dave, deceased) Fjelstul, and Carrie (Rick) Williams.  A loving Grandmother to her Grandkids:  Stephanie (deceased), Sarah, Marie (Travis), Elaine (Aaiden), Erin, Sam, Grace, Gus, and Beck.  Marianna adored her Great Grandson, Noah.

Marianna was born to Gus and Mary (Sanders) Wittich in Dayton, OH on July 22, 1936.  She is preceded in death by her sister, Sandra.

Marianna graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1954.  She worked for National Cash Register as an accountant.  She met her future husband, Carl, upon his return from serving in Korea.  The were married on December 7, 1957.

Marianna was a proud Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.  Family was her first priority and was present at her children's and grandchildren's events and activities.  She was always known for her kindness, hospitality, and a love of Elvis Presley.  An amazing cook, who always knew what kind of cookie was needed for any occasion.  She hosted many celebrations, but her favorite times were spent relaxing with her family at Indian Lake.

A remarkable woman of faith who was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Gene Wade, officiating. The burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Honor Flight Dayton, 200 Canary Court, Enon, OH 45323.
